Christina Murphy
About Me
Good supervision is often what keeps newer clinicians in the profession, yet many supervisors step into the role with little training and plenty of competing demands. Christina Murphy has spent much of her career developing clinicians into confident practitioners and leaders.
Christina is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado, USA, and the founder and CEO of Life's Hope Therapeutic Services. She set up the group practice to improve access to care for people on Medicaid while keeping caseloads manageable for clinicians. She previously led Griffith Centers for Children, a Colorado child and family organisation, as President and CEO, after more than a decade in clinical and leadership roles there. She co-authored The Empowerment Model of Clinical Supervision with Khara Croswaite Brindle and is completing a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision.
Her focus areas include clinical supervision, trauma-informed care, work with children and families, and building resilient clinical teams. Her background in family preservation, supporting children at risk of out-of-home care, shapes her practical, systems-aware approach.
What sets her training apart is that it comes from running services as well as supervising within them. Christina understands the pressure that caseloads, risk and organisational demands put on supervisors, and teaches supervision that works within those limits.
For your practice, expect to gain a clear framework for structuring supervision, ways to manage dual relationships and critical incidents, and strategies for developing early-career clinicians into future leaders. Her work particularly suits supervisors, team leaders and practice owners.
Quick Win: The Empowerment Model uses an Individual Development Plan to give each supervisee written goals that are reviewed in supervision. Set one up with a newer supervisee at your next session.
