Emotional Process Work in a Multi-Therapy Context
Join internationally known author, presenter and therapist Dr Daniel Short and learn practical techniques to introduce emotional processing skills to your client effectively at intermediate and advanced levels.
“Emotional Processing” is a type of natural healing, almost like a second immune system protecting us from emotional distress. But not everybody processes events successfully, there are some elements that can hinder emotional processing. This can contribute towards psychological disorder or psychogenic conditions. Some people lack processing ability and they relive painful experiences and return to distressing feelings over and over again. They are not able to process or reduce the emotions associated with those events. These individuals then experience relapse, night terrors, phobias or other extreme reactions.
In this unique online course recording, Dr Short will teach you about:
- Creating emotional connectivity and productivity
- Genuine empathy versus emotional contagion
- Training emotional responses so they become means to a valued end and purpose
- Functional value of a given emotional experience
- Emotional fluency and fluidity
- Increased cognitive understanding of emotional processes
- Somatic experiencing of emotions
- Reframing and creating new meanings of emotions and events
- How therapists should work at each sessions in order to foster emotional fitness in clients
- How to help clients switch emotions from an incompatible emotion to a more desired emotion.
Dr Short will draw from his knowledge and experience in evidence-based modalities as well as from his expertise in Ericksonian based practices.
You will feel confident and ready to utilise these techniques immediately the very next day and, most importantly, you will train your client in becoming resilient and emotionally immune to distressing events, equipping your client with these skills for life.
