The Neuroscience-Based Techniques to Train the Brain, Calm the Stress Spin Cycle and Trigger the Brain’s Superpowers
Course Content
The standard offer to a client is that they work on their thoughts and process their emotions, repeatedly, over a long period. It works, for people with the self-discipline and patience to stay with it. A significant number do not have those in the quantity required, get discouraged somewhere in the middle, and leave with the conclusion that therapy does not work for them.
Kershaw and Wade’s course is about what else is available. Their interest is in working with a client’s state directly rather than only through the content of their thinking, and in the techniques that change how someone feels quickly enough that they stay in the room long enough for the slower work to happen.
Six hours across six modules, from a pair who ran a neurofeedback and biofeedback clinic alongside their therapy practice for twenty-five years, with a consulting neurologist reading EEG brain maps. They start with neuroplasticity and what it makes possible, move through what they call the brain’s superpowers, then into interventions for the depressed and chronically stressed brain, which is the section most clinicians will use most. Then amplifying and conditioning states so a good state lasts, neutralising emotional charge, and building flow.
You’ll walk away with
- Neuroplasticity as the working basis for the approach rather than as a concept
- What Kershaw and Wade call the brain’s superpowers, and how to teach a client to use them
- Interventions for a depressed or chronically stressed brain, which is the core of the course
- Amplifying and conditioning a state so it holds after the session ends
- Neutralising emotional charge attached to a memory or a trigger
- Building and extending flow states
- Helping a client change emotional channels rather than argue with their thoughts
- Neuro-wellness rituals a client can run through a crisis
- Restoring a sense of optimism and control, and what produces each
- An approach for the clients who do not do well with slow cognitive work
